The National Council for Persons with Disabilities is a state agency established under the Persons with Disabilities Act No. 14 of 2003 to champion the rights of Persons with Disabilities in Kenya. Sections 32 – 34 of the Act establishes the National Development Fund for Persons with Disabilities (the Fund) for the benefit of persons with disabilities in Kenya.
INTRODUCTION AND DESCRIPTION OF THE APPLICATIONS
The Fund wishes to invite National Disabled persons’ organizations, to submit applications to undertake lobbying and advocacy.
The lobbying and advocacy programme aims to raise awareness and mobilize action for mainstreaming disability issues at the county and national levels government. This objective is achieved through making grants to National Disabled Persons Organizations (DPOs) to build platforms for raising awareness, piloting of innovative ideas, influencing policies and interventions aimed at benefiting persons with disabilities.
The grants will be made to 12 organizations whose agenda are aligned with the Council’s mandate.
The maximum grant is KES 1 Million for projects that will last for no more than one year i.e. July 2018 – June 2019. This call is open to all the 47 Counties in Kenya.
