The Job Placement Department deals with analyzing market information trends in order to disseminate market intelligence to the PWDs.
Liaising with a network of all education, training and job hunting support projects to enable referral of applicants for opportunities obtained within given timeframes and to agreed quality standards so that applicants can be submitted to employers.
The Department also establishes contacts with employers to develop opportunities for work experience and internship programmes, negotiating employment opportunities with employers for PWDs and offering a wide range of employment and training advice, including career and benefits advice to empower the PWDs to make informed decisions about employment opportunities.
Another key aspect of job placement is supporting PWDs to gain and improve their employability skills through running job search sessions, including CV and application preparation and interview techniques. Ensuring that emerging opportunities are circulated quickly by utilizing information technology (emails, web pages etc.) effectively to achieve best possible performance for meeting employer requirements.
Feedback results of submissions to job seekers, training and support agencies, within agreed time limits, and to work towards continually improving the delivery of services and also liaising with employers to ensure any candidates placed are properly supported and support employers in training/career plans for individuals.
Departments Planned Activities:
- A baseline survey will be conducted in the government institutions both in the National and County Government to enable the Council have a figure on the number of PWDs employed in the public sector.
- The Job Placement Department will liaise with the Department of Disability Mainstreaming to enable it get data on the PWDs that are being taken by those MDAs that report on the performance contracting. This will enable the department to know the percentage increase in the employment of the PWDs.
- The Department will liaise with institutions of higher learning like the universities and colleges to get the number of the PWDs admitted in such institutions. This will enable the department tap onto the students completing their education so as to plan well on the employability training.
- To liaise with the Registration Department to have one central database that has the bio data of all the PWDs.
