Education Assistance
This programme aims to improve persons with disabilities enrolment, retention and completion of education cycle for the eventual engagement in decent and gainful employment. The Council provides support to persons with disabilities from Primary, Secondary, Colleges, Vocational Training Schools and University.
Education assistance main objective is to empower persons with disabilities by enhancing opportunities for them in education, training and rehabilitation institutions. Individuals or their guardians can apply for financial support with fees for secondary, tertiary education, vocational training, vocational rehabilitation centres, universities and special educational establishments. Masters and PhD’s are not funded. The amount funded is for tuition fees and may include boarding.
The Ustawi scholarships programme is a conglomerate of scholarship initiatives run by the Council namely Faulu, Wezesha, KPC Inuka, KCB Foundation and Hellen McGowan scholarships. Currently, Faulu scholarship has 1000 students; Wezesha Scholarship 376 students; KPC Foundation 376 students; KCB Foundation 200 and Hellen McGowan 4 students with disabilities. The new Tunza initiative is aimed at linking students with mentors tailored to their unique goals and aspirations.
