Review of the Persons with Disabilities Act, 2025.

The Council, in collaboration with various partners, engaged in an in-depth review of the Persons with Disabilities Act, 2025. This initiative aims to understand the Act’s key provisions to facilitate its implementation.
This process led by Disability Advocate Wakili Lawrence Mute, Nominated Senator Crystal Asige, Council Chairperson Elizabeth Chesang, and Ag; CEO Eva W. Njoroge, PS Joseph M. Motari, CBS, MBs alongside other partners from the disability sector.
This collaborative effort marks a significant milestone for disability rights and social justice in Kenya. The Disability Act 2025 is anticipated to usher in a new paradigm shift for persons with disabilities nationwide. Among its pivotal provisions are strengthened access to inclusive education, health services, and assistive technologies, the establishment of mandatory accessibility standards for both public infrastructure and digital platforms, and the reinforcement of anti-discrimination measures in employment, education, and service delivery. Furthermore, the Act is set -up to clear mechanisms for enforcement, compliance, and accountability, ensuring the recognition and protection of the rights of all persons with disabilities.
The Council is fully committed to collaborating closely with all stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of the 2025 Disability Act. This commitment extends to raising public awareness and consistently advocating for the rights and full inclusion of all persons with disabilities. The Council expresses gratitude to the Government of Kenya, Parliament, civil society partners, organizations of persons with disabilities, and all stakeholders who have championed this reform over the years.
Together, we are building a Kenya that ensures no one is left behind.
