This initiative represents a targeted capital investment in human potential, specifically designed to foster sustainable economic independence and advance an inclusive national economy spearheaded by the Council.
The programme aims to equip Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) with specialized tools, entrepreneurial training, and financial support, the program ensures that beneficiaries can establish thriving enterprises and generate sustainable long-term incomes.
In this first phase, the program has successfully achieved broad national outreach, delivering tailored tools and equipment to 28 beneficiaries across 28 diverse counties. This extensive footprint spans every region of the country, directly impacting entrepreneurs in Baringo, Bungoma, Kisii, Kisumu, Marsabit, Nakuru, Kajiado, Meru, Nyamira, Embu, Tana River, Homa Bay, Tharaka Nithi, Isiolo, Kilifi, Mandera, Wajir, Uasin Gishu, Makueni, Vihiga, Kakamega, Turkana, Elgeyo Marakwet, Kericho, Siaya, Kitui, Lamu, and Laikipia. This rollout serves as the foundation for a comprehensive, nationwide framework that will empower forty-seven entrepreneurs with disabilities. The remaining nineteen beneficiaries are scheduled to receive these tools within the current financial year.
To ensure enterprise resilience and business sustainability, all 47 beneficiaries will undergo capacity-building and training in business management skills, including financial literacy, record-keeping, strategic marketing, and enterprise sustainability.
In addition, eligible beneficiaries will receive direct start-up capital to facilitate a transition into operational business growth. To ensure a lasting impact, the Council will maintain ongoing mentorship, regular performance monitoring, continuous capacity enhancements, and strategic partnerships, thereby ensuring that these entrepreneurs have the exact tools, skills, and financial structures required to build highly resilient, sustainable businesses.
